MAPS - Modesto Area Partners in Science
The Modesto Area Partners in Science (MAPS) lecture series has operated since 1990
to foster science education in our community for youths through adults. Once a month
during the academic year, MAPS offers stimulating free science programming, bringing
educators and local citizens into contact with scientists and mind-expanding ideas.

SCIENCE COLLOQUIUM
The Science Colloquium presents a variety of topics of interest to our students, faculty, and the community. All are welcome to attend and admission is free. We have a great list of presentations from which you can choose.

Science Colloquium Lecture Archive
EARTH DAY
Stay tuned for updates on the 2023 Earth Day Celebration. The MJC Civic Engagement's Project Green Committee is planning an Earth Day celebration to heighten environmental awareness and educate students, staff, and the greater community on green and sustainable practices. The event will be informative and interactive, including displays, information tables and demonstrations and is open to the public.
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Local junior high and high schools compete in the The Regional Science Olympiad which consists of individual and team events that encourage learning in biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, problem solving and technology. Some events require knowledge of scientific facts and concepts, while others rely on science processes. Volunteers are always welcome. This is a great day of fun and science.
SCIENCE NIGHT with free telescope viewing
Please join us for a free, public telescope viewing opportunity provided by the MJC Astronomy Club and other science opportunities provided by the MJC Science students.
To stay up-to-date on upcoming Astronomy club events, “like” their Facebook page. In addition to telescope viewing on the roof (weather permitting), the Great Valley Museum’s planetarium will have several shows that night (there will be a charge for planetarium shows).

There is no cost for the telescope viewing and parking is free on Friday night during this event.
PLANETARIUM SHOWS
The MJC Science Community Center planetarium is open to the public with shows available on Saturdays and during special events.
