A.S. DEGREE: FIRE SCIENCE
A two-year program combining fire service training with general education courses is offered to allow the student to earn an Associate of Science degree, as well as complete the transfer requirements for four-year colleges and universities. Students must complete six required core courses (18 units) within the major plus 12 additional elective units as found in the program electives and meet the General Education requirements.
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT: FIRE SCIENCE
MJC offers a Certificate of Achievement in Fire Science. This program consists of completion of 30 units. Students must complete the 18 unit core courses and the 12 additional units of program electives.
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT: FIRE ACADEMY
When students successfully complete the MJC State Fire Marshal Accredited Fire Academy they also qualify to receive a Certificate of Achievement for completing the Fire Academy.
Students should apply for their certificates during the semester in which they are completing their final program requirements. Applications for the Fall 2024- Spring 2025 school year will be available October 1, 2023. The deadline to submit all required documentation and complete the online application will be January 31, 2024.
