About Comunidad

History

Comunidad began in 2016 out of the efforts of The Collaborative at MJC to address the gaps in educational success among MJC's Hispanix/Latinx student population. Numerous staff, faculty and administrators worked to create space where our Hispanix/Latinx students could come together and learn from each other. What started as a grassroots initiative has become an institutionalized program due to those efforts.

Comunidad is a program and network dedicated to representing and generating opportunities for Latinx students through workshops, equity-minded courses, cultural events, and community engagement at Modesto Junior College. Our vision is to inspire and empower Latinx students at MJC to pursue personal, academic, and professional success.
